Evaluating model-based strategies for in-season nitrogen management of maize using weather data fusion

چکیده

One challenge in precision nitrogen (N) management is the uncertainty future weather conditions at time of decision-making. Crop growth models require a full season data to run yield simulation, and unknown may be forecasted or substituted by historical data. The objectives this study were (1) develop model-based in-season N recommendation strategy for maize (Zea mays L.) using fusion; (2) evaluate comparison with farmers’ rate regional optimal Northeast China. CERES-Maize model was calibrated collected from field experiments conducted 2015 2016, validated 2017. At two decision dates - planting stage V8 stage, used predict grain plant uptake fusing current Using approach, simulated well (R2 = 0.85–0.89). Then, economic (EONR) determined according responses marginal return (based on predicted yield) stages. About 83% EONR fell within 20% measured values. Applying had potential increase 120–183 $ ha−1 0–83 use efficiency 8–71% 1–38% without affecting over rate, respectively. It concluded that valuable tool simulating under different densities, soil types conditions. fusion can improve compared farmer practice practice.

Nitrogen management strategies for maize production systems: Experimental data and crop modeling

Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important crop among Brazilian smallholder farmers, who are also responsible for 40% of the poultry and egg production in the country.Although poultry litter is considered a potential pollutant, if properly stabilized anddistributed in the field it can be used as a source of nitrogen for maize production. In this study, the response of maize to mineral fertilizer and pou...

Nitrogen management strategies for smallholder maize production systems: Yield and profitability variability

Maize (Zea mays L.) production requires large amounts of nitrogen (N) thatdirectly affect production cost. Poultry litter can be used as an alternative source ofN. To optimize its use, poultry litter requires technical and economic feasibilityanalyses. Crop simulation models have proven to be efficient tools to support thistype of research. The objectives of this study were to determine yield a...

A Regional Investigation of In-season Nitrogen Requirement for Maize Using Model and Sensor-based Recommendation Approaches

N management for corn (Zea mays L.) can be improved by applying a portion of the total required N in-season, allowing for adjustments which are responsive to actual field conditions. This study was conducted to evaluate two approaches for determining in-season N rates: Maize-N model and active crop canopy sensor. The effects of corn hybrid and planting population on recommendations with these t...
